Hey guys,
Here is my notes from Friday night if you wanted to have a look over them or has a point of reference.
We looked at pain relief and pain prevention in our relationships.....
Pain is an indicator – blinkers on a car are an indication that the car is going to turn. If I'm getting red faced, huffing and puffing, it is an indication that I am angry. Indicators are important, but they are not a means in themselves. They are to identify what’s really going on.
Pain identifies that there is a problem. If my leg is sore it tells me there is something wrong with my leg. If my head hurts when I look at a math’s problem it’s an indicator that there is something wrong with my brain.
So it’s not the pain that needs fixing, it’s the issue that is causing the pain that needs fixing. We shouldn’t fear pain. We should recognize that it’s an indicator and respond appropriately.
Bible says, “Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it will flow the issues of your life…”
In Samuel God says to Samuel, “Man looks at the appearance but God looks at the heart…”
One key in our relationships that will relieve and prevent issues that cause pain is HONOUR.
HONOUR:
RECOGNIZES VALUE and responds accordingly. Honour guides your actions and causes you to remain in love.
RECOGNIZES SOMEONE FOR WHAT THEY ARE WITHOUT STUMBLING OVER WHAT THEY ARE NOT.
HONOUR is the soil love grows in. Honour is like a jar that you fill up with LOVE. If you do not have the JAR, you don’t have a place to hold love. No honour, you’ll find love will be very hard to keep a hold of, it will be messy and come and go.
There is reward and blessing for honour - Mathew 10:40-42
WHO SHOULD I HONOUR?
HONOUR YOUR PARENTS/AUTHORITY – obedience, make their life easy, trust their judgment, and recognize their experience - Ephesians 6:2/Hebrews 13:17.
HONOUR THE PERSON NEXT TO YOU – Girlfriend/boyfriend, friend, peer. Romans 12:10
HONOUR PEOPLE BELOW YOU – don’t bully people, don’t take advantage of less fortunate people, don’t tease less fortunate people.
Mathew 25:34-46
God is not far from us, all we have to do is turn to Him. In our pain, in our circumstances all it takes is an ability to recognize pain, turn to God and ask Him to do whatever he needs to do in our heart. And as we pursue a healthy heart, right before God, we will find the rest of our lives will follow suit... and as we uphold honour in our relationships we will find true health and life on all levels of our relating.
